The NEW Summer Classics Home Store at Fortin Ironworks is almost done!

Even though our grand opening date is not until April 13th, you are the first to be invited to shop in the new store. Summer Classics Home at Fortin Ironworks will be open for viewing Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. Starting in early spring, after our grand opening, Summer Classics Home at Fortin Ironworks will also be open evenings and weekends.

Fortin Ironworks has exciting expansion plans for 2012!  We will be adding approximately 1000 square feet to our existing 5500 square foot showroom.  This renovation will provide you with dedicated design spaces for our ornamental iron products and better showcase the products we manufacture.  In addition, we will become your exclusive central Ohio Summer Classics outdoor furniture dealer with extended evening and weekend showroom hours.

But first we must make some room in our showroom.

So we are announcing a Pre-Renovation Clearance Sale !

Starting December 7th, 2011 and running thru December 31st, 2011 almost everything in our Showroom will be selling for 50% off the original retail price.  We will also stay open until 6:00pm every Wednesday.  Be sure to check our seasonal hours.

What anchors do you suggest when installing Iron X Handrails?

CONCRETE: Red Head® Large Diameter Tapcon (LDT) Anchor 3/8″ Diameter x 3″ model #LDT-3830X.

CONCRETE BLOCK:  Red Head® Large Diameter Tapcon (LDT) Anchor 3/8″ Diameter x 5″ model #LDT-3850X.  It is advisable to buy an anchor long enough to get through the block into the substrate below.

PAVER BRICKS Red Head® Large Diameter Tapcon (LDT) Anchor 3/8″ Diameter x 5″ model #LDT-3850X.  It is advisable to buy an anchor long enough to get through the block into the substrate below.

LIMESTONE: It is not advisable to drill any holes into limestone as it is very soft and susceptible to cracking.  If you must install into limestone we suggest Red Head® Large Diameter Tapcon (LDT) Anchor 3/8″ Diameter x 5″ model #LDT-3850X.  It is advisable to buy an anchor long enough to get through the block into the substrate below.

WOOD: 5/16″ diameter stainless steel bolts completely through the steps with a washer and nut on the other side.  Buy your anchors suitable length to go completely through the step.

How often do I have to paint my metal item to help prevent against rusting?

As a home owner you are aware that all outdoor items will require maintenance. Soon after your ironwork is installed, you may notice minimal surface rust in the joints or seams. To maintain the ironwork it is best to clean the rust off, if needed, with a scotch bright pad or wire brush. Then touch up the area with spray paint or a small brush, it is best to use an oil base enamel paint. To help prevent against rust it is best not to salt around the ironwork and visually inspect the ironwork once a year. Paint and touch up as needed.
